Scholarship Details

The George Foundation Scholarship targets high-performing student leaders who need financial help to achieve their educational goals.  

  • Awards may be utilized at any public college, university, or technical school in Texas.    Awards may not be used at out-of-state or private institutions.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only
  • Scholarship America, a third-party firm specializing in scholarship administration, manages the program on behalf of the Foundation and processes and evaluates all applications
  • The scholarship automatically renews for a maximum of four years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned pending the awardee maintains eligibility (see requirements).
  • Only one application is needed to be considered for two scholarship opportunities as eligible
  • Award are distributed as follows:  

For Local Graduating Seniors:

The George Foundation awards and renews forty (40) 4-year scholarships totaling up to $24,0000 each through a tiered structure to graduating high school seniors from Fort Bend County. Students must meet certain criteria to receive renewed awards.

For Other Local Students:

The George Foundation also awards and renews up to one hundred twenty (120) scholarships totaling up to $18,000 each over a 4-year, tiered period to Fort Bend residents who may have followed a different path on their journey to achieve their educational goals.    Awardees may be currently pursuing their degree, returning to higher education after time away, or have a gap in education between high school and today.     Not everyone’s story is the same, and this award considers those factors.   Graduating seniors are also considered for this award (one application will register you for both opportunities).

Eligibility

Eligibility Requirement:

  • Must be a resident of Fort Bend County.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent resident status, or deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA).
  • Must be enrolled or plan to enroll (including high school seniors) in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year public college, public university, or public technical school in Texas.
  • Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

The George Foundation Scholarship program is managed and administered by Scholarship America, a third-party firm specializing in scholarship administration, to ensure a fair and efficient application and decision process. Scholarship recipients are not selected by The George Foundation trustees or staff, and application packets should not be mailed to The George Foundation office.

Deadline:

Applications will open January 6, 2024 and must be submitted by 3:00 pm CST on February 15, 2024.

Notifications:

Applicants will be notified by Scholarship America on the outcome of their application in April 2024.
