Program Description:

The Foundation has funded seventeen endowed scholarships for Fort Bend County residents attending the following Texas colleges and universities.

Title of Scholarship(s): Albert P. & Mamie E. George Memorial Scholarship

Application Deadline: May 1st

Requirements: Awarded to students of Fort Bend County, Texas on the basis of merit and need. Student must possess a B average or graduate in the top half of high school graduating class; must maintain a 2.0 GPA or above in college and be of high Christian character. The maximum award to be granted shall not exceed $1,500 to any one recipient.

Albert P. and Mamie E. George Endowed Scholarship:

  • Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students demonstrating superior academic and leadership potential.
  • Scholarship award is based on high school grades, ACT/SAT scores, extracurricular activities and college GPA where applicable.
  • First choice is given to students with financial need.
  • There are no restrictions on the major(s).
  • Awards to be not less than $1,000 or more than the equivalent of one-half tuition.
  • Students are to be from the following communities in Texas: Sugar Land, Rosenberg, Richmond, Kendleton, Booth, Fulshear, Needville, Stafford, Brookshire or Orchard.

  • Must be a resident of Fort Bend County, Texas
  • Minimum SAT score of 950 or ACT score of 20 and unconditional acceptance into the University
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 for renewal each year
  • The scholarship may not be awarded in conjunction with TLU Academic Distinction Awards (PACE, Locus Aduro, DaCapo, or President’s Award) or individual George Foundation Scholarships.

Title of Scholarship(s): The Honorable Hilmar G. Moore Endowed Scholarship

Application Deadline:

Entering freshman students must complete the Apply Texas Application for The University of Texas at Austin by December 1 of the fall semester of their senior year in high school.

Continuing and transfer students must complete the UT Austin Continuing & Transfer Scholarship Application by April 1 to be considered.

All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 15.

Requirements:

  • Recipients must have resided in or matriculated from a school in Fort Bend County, Texas.
  • Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Students graduating from high schools in Fort Bend County, Texas may apply upon admission to UT Austin or as undergraduates already enrolled at the University.
  • Students applying from high school must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Recipients are eligible for renewable support each year if they show marked progress toward their degree(s) and will not be required to formally reapply.
  • Students applying for the first time as enrolled undergraduates at the University must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Financial need, leadership qualities, and evidence of community service will be considered in selecting recipients from the pool of those who meet the minimum GPA requirements.
  • Recipients must be enrolled full time at the University to be eligible to receive awards. Exceptions to this requirement may be made for students in their final semester prior to graduation if a less-than-full-time course load will enable the students to complete their degree requirements.
