The George Foundation offers student scholarships and low-interest student loans for Fort Bend County students attending Texas colleges and universities. The individual educational institution administers each program.

Since the 1980’s, The George Foundation has been committed to helping Fort Bend County students pursue degrees of higher education. The Foundation has ongoing endowed scholarships for Fort Bend County students attending the Texas colleges and universities listed below. Each endowed program is administered by the individual educational institution; therefore students must contact the college or university of their choice to obtain an application and learn more about the criteria for selection.

Title of Scholarship: Albert P. & Mamie E. George Endowed Scholarship
Application Deadline: July 1st prior to the beginning of the next academic year
Requirements: Awarded to Fort Bend County students on the basis of merit and need. Students must show outstanding scholarship (B average in high school or upper half of graduating class; must maintain a 2.0 GPA in college), must be of Christian character and must not be receiving the Mamie E. George scholarship given by any Fort Bend County High School. The maximum award to be granted shall not exceed $1500 to any one recipient.

Requirements: Must be a Fort Bend County high school graduate. Transfer students must have earned an Associate’s Degree at a community college. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US (with a resident card). Must enroll as a full-time (12 hours) student at UTPA. Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and high school graduates must have a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
