Annual Scholarships

Annual Scholarships Scholarship Investment Program
In addition to endowments, scholarships for Fort Bend County students to the institutions listed below are approved annually by The George Foundation. Understanding lack of resources and lack of experience makes college inaccessible for many families; the Foundation’s annual scholarship program is focused on first-generation college students and non-traditional adult students.
Scholarship Awards for First Generation College Students:
$2,000 ($1,000 per semester) scholarship for first generation college students enrolled full-time.
For the purposes of this scholarship, a first generation college student is defined as a college student from a family of which neither parent has a four-year degree. Full-time status is defined as a student enrolled for twelve (12) or more hours per semester.
Scholarship Awards for Non-traditional College Students:
$500 ($250 per semester) scholarship for non-traditional college students enrolled part-time.
For the purposes of this scholarship, a non-traditional college student is defined as a college student whose education has been interrupted and who now finds it necessary to resume studies due to changing work and family demands. They may be returning to college or entering college for the first time. Part-time status is defined as a student enrolled for six (6) to eleven (11) hours per semester.
Each program is administered by the individual educational institution; therefore students must contact the college or university of their choice to obtain an application and learn more about the criteria for selection.
The Foundation has also established annual nursing scholarships. For more information please see Nursing Scholarships.
